In 2011, the Ministry redesigned the allocation of Professional Learning and Development (PLD) to be targeted and focused on lifting learner achievement. This new system will be fully operational this year, and this means changes to the way PLD for kaiako and teachers will be accessed.

To assist teachers in working with assessment tools in relation to National Standards, the Ministry of Education is undertaking detailed work on existing records of student achievement to provide information on how scores for assessment tools align to the National Standard at that year level. This alignment process is ongoing and results will be published as they become available.
