A model of whole school evidence-driven strategic planning

The model shows five circular layers, threaded on a circular pole, representing the layers of planning involved in whole school planning. The largest layer is the bottom layer and the other four are of equal dimensions.

Each layer is divided in half and part of the layer is thinner and divided into five equal segments. Each segment is named and the names remain constant through the successive layers. These are from left to right: Student achievement data, Demographic data, School systems data, Research & best practice data. Each of these labels has a small icon to represent the data.

The other segment of each layer is thicker and is divided into three segments – the labels on these segments vary slightly form layer to layer. The labels of the layers from bottom to top are: Ministry of Education, Individual schools, Individual departments, Individual teachers, Individual students. The centre of each layer it is labelled Strategic/ achievement plans and goals and there is a graphic representation of the layer e.g. a drawing of a school represents Individual schools.

The three labels on the segments on the thicker layer are from left to right:

Ministry of Education – Reporting & monitoring, Learning initiatives & policy, Feedback & feed- forward

Individual schools – Reflection & evaluation reporting, Professional development plan, Feedback & feed-forward appraisal

Individual departments – Reflection & evaluation reporting, Professional development plan, Feedback & feed-forward appraisal

Individual teachers – Reflection & evaluation reporting, Professional development plan, Feedback & feed-forward appraisal

Individual students – Reflection & evaluation reporting, Learning programme, Feedback & feed-forward appraisal

The labels on each of these segments are also represented by an icon.
