For the junior area of the school, Mauku School has developed reports that provide clear information on the students' progress in literacy and numeracy since they have been at school, and describe the strategies the student is beginning to use.
The parents really like the picture by their child that is included.
'I know that 30% of the kids speak and read better English than their families do, so the children are going to have to help explain the content of their reports and letters to their parents. Conversely, we have a large group of highly literate parents who have a good grasp of education jargon!'
