Ministry of Education Position Paper: Assessment

The Ministry of Education has produced a position paper which outlines its vision for assessment. This is the first formal statement of position on assessment since the National Assessment Strategy in 1999. This 2010 paper describes what the assessment landscape should look like if assessment is to be used effectively to promote system-wide improvement within, and across, all layers of the schooling system. The paper, supported by national and international research including the 2009 DANZ report , places assessment firmly at the heart of effective teaching and learning.
