What the data shows
- Almost 70% of the class gained an Achieved grade or higher, compared with a cohort figure of just over 55%.
- Only 33% of the males gained an Achieved grade or higher, compared with a cohort figure of nearly 50%.
- Over 90% of the females gained an Achieved grade or higher, compared with a cohort figure of just over 61%.
- 86% of Maori students gaining an Achieved grade or higher, compared with a cohort figure of 55%.
Overall goal for this group of students
Target the low achievement of the NZ European males.

What the data shows
- 93% of the class gained an Achieved grade or higher, compared with 89% of the school cohort and 78% of the national cohort from 2010.
- Almost 89% of males gained an Achieved grade or higher, compared with 85% of the school cohort and 75% of the national cohort from 2010.
- 100% of females gained an Achieved grade or higher, compared with 96% of the school cohort and 82% of the national cohort from 2010.
- No students in the class earned an Excellence grade.
Area for investigation
The Head of Department should moderate the grading of the class and cohort results, as they are considerably higher than the national statistics from the previous year. It may be that the teaching of this particular part of the course has been exceptional, or that the cohort of students is exceptional, but it is worth checking.
Overall goal
Lift the percentage of Merit and Excellence grades.
